1972
THE BEGINNING OF DRAGON COMPANY
The history of Dragon Company began on November 12, 1972, when Zofia and Kazimierz Czekaj decided to take a risk and start their own business, giving up their previous jobs. At the time, Kazimierz Czekaj was an assistant at the Cracow University of Technology, and Zofia Czekaj worked in the technology department of the Wawel factory in Cracow.
1976
DESIGNING A LINE FOR SUEDING PAPER AND MATERIAL
Kazimierz developed the technology and, based on his own design, constructed a line for suede finishing of paper and fabric. This device was an innovative solution that used a high-intensity electrostatic field to accelerate the flock (short colored cotton fibers) to a speed that allowed it to be deposited on the surface of a fabric coated with glue, prepared according to an original recipe. The Czekajs shared their responsibilities. Zofia was responsible for trade and distribution, while Kazimierz managed and improved the production process. The materials produced at that time were unique and rare, which is why they quickly gained recognition among customers. A period of dynamic growth began for the company.
1976
START OF CHRISTMAS TREE DECORATION PRODUCTION
The company develops another groundbreaking device for covering molded parts with suede. The Czekaj family begins producing Christmas tree baubles covered with suede in various colors. They are very popular, including at the Poznań Trade Fair. The demand for the materials produced was so high that queues formed in front of the factory. This period marked a rapid increase in sales and further development of the company.
1981
THE CREATION OF BUNAPREN ADHESIVE FROM BUNA RUBBER
There were increasing shortages of cotton, which was used to produce flock and other materials. The Czekaj family decided to switch industries. Based on their experience in suede production, they began manufacturing adhesives. Their first adhesive, called “Bunapren,” was made from Buna rubber.
1983
ESTABLISHMENT OF THE COMPANY'S HEADQUARTERS IN SZCZYGLICE
The company moves to new headquarters in Szczyglice near Cracow. This allows it to expand its product range. Production of solvents begins, and new, improved formulas for adhesives are introduced.
1989
THE ORIGIN OF THE DRAGON NAME AND TRADEMARK
A new company name is chosen in a family vote. Referring to the legendary Wawel Dragon, the DRAGON brand is created, along with a logo featuring a distinctive black dragon on an orange background, symbolizing power, strength, and energy.
1992

The year 2003 will long be remembered as a year of trials and great challenges. In May, the production plant was destroyed in a fire. Once again, the founders had to face a difficult decision. Many years of experience, knowledge, and above all, the joint efforts of the entire family led to the reconstruction of the production facilities and the astonishingly rapid re-accumulation of all resources.
